"As Rotary serves the world The memory of former Rotary Club of Evanston member, Curt Sharp, will by honored in a special ceremony to be held this Thursday as part of the club's weekly luncheon program. Members of the club wanted to do something special to honor their former colleague who believed so strongly in the value of international service. Thus the club embarked on a project that culminated in the placement of a 5 foot aluminum globe, designed by local artist, Matt Binns, that now rests along the two rows of Crabapple trees that line McCormick Blvd. , just west of Green Bay Road . The Globe has become a popular landmark for the many walkers, joggers and bicyclists who travel the length of the Garden each day. According to club member Paul Giddings, Thursday's ceremony will complete the project with the dedication of a permanent plaque that will face opposite the globe. "Curt was special because he integrated Rotary ideals into his everyday life and inspired all of us to reach out to others," stated Giddings.
